Morons on power trips….
Well, some idiot new employee at the On The Move convenience store (a Texaco, formerly RaceTrac) near my home that so overly concerned with locking the door promptly at midnight so that no other people could come in rather than being concerned with what he should be providing customer service and waiting on the customers that are in the store when midnight rolls around that he was actually running people out of the store and was in such a rush to do so that he completely forgot to give my debit card back… he handed me the signature slip (without a pen) and called on the next person… since so many places don’t even ask you to sign for small purchases anymore, i walked off unaware…. luckily I realized the error before I got out of the parking lot… He seemed rather annoyed when I came & knocked on the bulletproof glass asking for my card too… Of course, if he wasn’t on his cell phone yakking at his girlfriend while shouting at the customers that he needed to lock the door at midnight he probably would have been paying more attention. Will it ever end?Actually though, I’ve pointed out multiple times the absurdity of that store only locking their doors during the hours they can’t sell alcoholic beverages under the guise of it being for safety…. if it was for safety they’d be locking the door from 8PM – 6AM not from 12AM – 6AM (Sun-Fri) and 1AM – 6AM (Sat) …. How stupid do they think their customers are… I’ve gotten to the point I won’t patronize the store as I feel like a common criminal having to speak through a slot in the glass & wait for them to slide what I’m asking for through the window… I mean if it was still a RaceTrac and they were dealing in Cash only still or it was an isolated or high-crime location I’d be more understanding… but there are two establishments with 2AM liquor licenses within view of the front of the building that are never deserted. It’s just morons on a power trip as usual….
The one employee that saw the policy as being pointless (and who made the other graveyard employees look bad with considerably higher revenues) never bothered to lock the doors and use the window at night (and I might add was not once even so much as threatened, much less robbed) switched to a store closer to home unfortunately. So, I think I’ll happily trek the extra mile and a half to 7-Eleven and be served with dignity any day. That and the ride back home is all downhill.
